Sense has Nothing to do with Being a Tea Partier

The Vice President went a long way in explaining why we should allow the tax cut for the rich to die and we should implement tax cuts for the middle class and the poor.

The Vice President said that under the Obama proposed tax cut, "If you're making $50,000 a year and you're a family of four, you get $2,100."

Why are middle and lower middle income people AGAINST tax cuts for themselves? The Vice President adds here that the tax cut Obama proposes would mean ". . . the difference between being able to have meat a couple times a week. Being able to pay your utility bill. . . . $2,100 matters."

The Tea Party rhetoric is that tax cuts for rich people is going to help the middle class, because if rich people get JUST A LITTLE RICHER they will spend that extra money on expanding their businesses and hiring middle class folk who are willing to work. The TEA BAG idea is the old TRICKLE DOWN ECONOMICS idea repackaged into tea bags.

If this is true, then show me your evidence. Where are the numbers? Many of these people at the top are surgeons and lawyers. There are thousands of super rich people who are their business. The surgeon is not going to hire too many people, because their business is themselves. The big wig lawyer is not going to hire too many people, because their business is themselves. The Vice President explains that ". . . 50 percent of the tax cut for the top bracket . . . goes. . ." to ". . . people whose average income is $8.3 million a year. And that's $350 billion! . . . they're gonna get a $350,000 tax break," the Vice President points out. "What are they gonna do with that [money] that they couldn't do already?"

The Vice President summed all this up by pointing out again that if you are RICH ENOUGH you get a tax cut of $350 MILLION. That is what the Tea Partiers are defending. People making $100,000 a year (a figure that is 3 times more money than my wife and I make right now) will only get a $4,100. Here is a big difference. The person making $8.3 million a year does not really NEED another $350 thousand, but they will take it, and they will put it in the bank, or buy a boat. The family of four, making $100,000 a year is going to spend their $4,100 to fix the roof, or get the kids braces, and maybe get a new washer and dryer.

The tax positions of the Tea Partiers makes no sense to me, but sense has nothing to do with being a Tea Partier. Tea Baggers are driven by fear, a blind faith in libertarian economics, and a poorly hidden fear of people of color.

In the 1950s I use to hear my people admire some "colored people" because "they know their place." Obama, didn't "know his place." Obama is in the White House, and apparently, Tea Baggers think the White House was reserved for whites.

Bravo, Tex, what a great article! I'm so sick of that ridiculous argument that the rich need to be allowed to hold onto their money because then they'll spend it. You're so right, they don't even need a tax break. I love the title of your article.

Tex, you,ve done it again. Beautiful and to the point. I don't understand those jokers either; as you can tell from my own articles. I love having someone to help paddle the boat, now let's get out the vote! (Sorry, ugh! Bad stuff ;-) )
