Jindal Lies and Republicans Look Pitiful

When Governor Bobby Jindal gave the Republican response to the Obama Non-State of the Union Speech he told the following story:

During Katrina, I visited Sheriff Harry Lee, a Democrat and a good friend of mine. When I walked into his makeshift office I'd never seen him so angry. He was yelling into the phone: 'Well, I'm the Sheriff and if you don't like it you can come and arrest me!' I asked him: 'Sheriff, what's got you so mad?' He told me that he had put out a call for volunteers to come with their boats to rescue people who were trapped on their rooftops by the floodwaters. The boats were all lined up ready to go - when some bureaucrat showed up and told them they couldn't go out on the water unless they had proof of insurance and registration. I told him, 'Sheriff, that's ridiculous.' And before I knew it, he was yelling into the phone: 'Congressman Jindal is here, and he says you can come and arrest him too!' Harry just told the boaters to ignore the bureaucrats and start rescuing people.

The fact that the point Mr. Jindal was making was a weak point, that is shadowed by the newly known fact that the story is a big ole fat lie. Mr. Jindal was making a point telling a personal antidote that was not true.

You would think that a youngish political up and coming Republican superstar would know that in this Google, YouTube, cameras everywhere world it is almost impossible to tell a lie and not be found out.

I just can't understand why the Republicans picked Mr. Jindal in the first place. Think about it: the Republican's picked a Louisiana governor, from a state needing and using millions and millions of dollars to recover from the Katrina Hurricane, a disaster that drew the worlds attention to how poor people were ignored by the then Republican President and Mr. Jindal used the Katrina fiasco as a way to attack President Obama. It just does not make sense.

It is clear that the Republican Party is grasping at straws trying to find a conservative counter to Obama. The Republican's selected a black man to head up the party (Michael Steele), and then sought out a brown skinned right winger to deliver the Republican Response (Gov. Jindal), but the Republican Party is just making the same mistake they made with Sarah Palin. Apparently the GOP thought that since the Democrats had Hillary Clinton who was losing the nomination all the conservatives needed to do to win the woman vote was put a woman on the ticket with John McCain.

There is no parallel universe where there are Democrats on one side and their similar but opposite counter parts within the OTHER dimension. If the Democrats are doing things right for a change, it isn't because they have women and blacks in power positions. The rightness of the Democrats comes from being in tune with the thoughts and need, and suffering of the people. Obviously there are millions that oppose Obama and find Democratic ideas frightening and wrong, but this brief popularity of the Democratic Party and the current President has happened because of the callous disregard of the people by the Bush White House and the Republican dominated legislative bodies.

Here is a hint: we don't stop trusting Obama and turn back to Right Wing Republican dogma by promoting the few people of color within the GOP and then having them lie to us on TV. It looks manipulative, transparent, and stupid.

Tex, I haven't forgotten you and I did receive your communication about the poetry, and I'm with you, just let me know what the plan is...and I will definately do whatever it takes....Great article by the way.....I love the ending which pretty much said it all and I quote "Here is a hint: we don't stop trusting Obama and turn back to Right Wing Republican dogma by promoting the few people of color within the GOP and then having them lie to us on TV.
